Semantics, Shemantics
by Kimberly Snow
When describing what I do, I often find people perplexed by
the idea of what Technical Remote Viewers call The Matrix. Quite frequently
when I bring up the subject of the Matrix, those who are unfamiliar with this
skill reply, "Oh, that sounds kind of like the Akashic Records," much in the
way that one may respond to my description of being a remote viewer by saying,
"Oh, you're a psychic." The Akashic Records is a term I had often heard used
throughout my adult life, but I had never studied in detail what the Akashic
Records referred to. After recently hearing once again someone who doesn't remote
view make the Akashic-Matrix association, I decided it would be useful for me
to look more closely at these supposed "ancient" records and see if the Akashic
Records and the remote viewer's theory of the Matrix were indeed one and the
same. The first thing I was surprised to find out was that the term Akashic Records is not as ancient as many people believe. The concept of the Akashic Records began in the 19th century, with a movement called Theosophy. It was the Theosophists that actually coined the term, Akashic Record.
The usual definition of the Akashic Records as described by Theosophists is like a library of all that exists in the realm of human consciousness. In this way, we are constantly interfacing with it, and we have access to it, like we have access to a public library. That is, of course, if you have a library card. The card that gets you access to the Akashic Records is any technique that quiets the mind and gets you into the right mental state for access, a talent usually reserved for yogi-types and the occasional gifted psychic, such as Edgar Cayce. It is also believed that information stored there, when accessed, is seen in full Technicolor.
The Matrix is a term coined by the developers of Remote Viewing and PSI TECH and was used to describe a collective unconscious where everything that exists, both in the past, present, and the future, does so as blueprints or patterns of information. We are all immersed in the Matrix as well as being psychically connected to it, therefore every moment of our life is recorded in our individual Matrix blueprint. I know what you're thinking. That sounds like the Akashic Records!
In many ways the theory of the Akashic Records is similar to that of the Matrix. Like the Akashic Records, the Matrix is akin to a giant library of information where blueprints of all things are stored as patterns or events. Like the Akashic Records theory, all human individuals can tap into and access the Matrix for information (if they know how). And like the Akashic records, future events in the Matrix are able to be viewed.
But there are differences as well. Unlike the above description of the Akashic Records, when in proper structure, a remote viewer does not "see" events in the past, present, or future with movie-like clarity. The remote viewer "perceives" data, and downloads the information of the event being viewed.
Another difference between historical references made to the "Akashic Records", and remote viewing events in the "Matrix", is that in most of the historical accounts of people accessing the Akashic Records, the access has almost always been spontaneous. There have been accounts of individuals accessing something akin to the Akashic Records dating back to the earliest known civilized societies, and the Theosophists claim that the Akashic Records are accessible by anyone. But the experience is usually random, often unexpected, and rarely sustained for any length of time--like walking into an invisible spider-web. Remote Viewing, on the other hand, is a controlled method that allows for lengthier, on demand, target contact. And it's far less creepy than the spider-web effect.
As I did my research into the Akashic Records, I began to find other terms from other cultures--terms far more ancient--used by people to describe something akin to the Matrix. One of these terms is the Australian Aboriginal "Dreamtime". To the Aborigine, Dreamtime is a place where everything exists all at once, instead of as a series of events happening one after the other. It's a place that has no beginning and no end. Everything simply is. It is this place that members of the tribe "go" to to seek guidance and strength from their ancestors (since in Dreamtime everything still exists, there is no past).
The Buddhists have their own term for the Matrix. They believe that there is a library or storehouse of consciousness called the alaya-vijnana. In this warehouse is stored everything that has ever been, and since events are constantly unfolding (including our own thoughts and actions) this alaya-vijnana is constantly being reconfigured, like a stream that is constantly in motion as it is effected by, and affects, its environment. Cause and effect. While this is a very simplified explanation, it is sufficient for comparison purposes.
So, are we just talking about semantics here? Is the Matrix simply another, more modern word for the Akashic Records, and are the Akashic Records simply another way of describing the Book of Life, or Dreamtime, or the alaya-vijnana, or Jung's Collective Unconscious, or the Universal Mind?
I believe we are dealing with the same library that prophets and seers have been tapping into for thousands of years. The edge that we Technical Remote Viewers have is that we've been given the means to easily train our mind to access this universal system. We no longer have to rely on a handful of chosen shamans, prophets, or soothsayers to check out our books for us, read them, and interpret them for us as they deem fit according to their belief systems. We don't have to go through an elaborate set of rituals, paint our skins and dance around a bonfire, hum a foreign mantra while breathing in the essence of patchouli oil, or lick psychedelics from a strip of paper and follow Jim Morrison across the dunes. The Technical Remote Viewer has a library card that allows them to access any book they choose, anytime, anywhere, while remaining completely sober and firmly grounded in the "real" world. In other words, we don't have to conjure an altered state to go there.
So, call it what you will, we now have open access to this Universal Library. We have been empowered through Technical Remote Viewing to freely access its information, on demand. Considering the history that has been shaped by the words and visions of past seers and prophets, it is a power not to be taken lightly.
