A Paradox of Paradigms
How an unstructured life promotes discipline.
from PSI TECH's President

Recently my husband made a comment to me. He said, "Joni, it's very interesting that you devoted your life to something as
structured as Technical Remote Viewing." I responded curiously with, "Really? Why do you think that is so...
interesting?" He answered, "Because your life is so... er... uh...
spontaneous and appears so...
unstructured." I wasn't too surprised by his comment albeit I hadn't heard it in quite sometime. I have heard this characterization before. I came to the conclusion some years ago that "I was a paradox," and so it's not surprising that my life would appear to be paradoxical as well. The Merriam-Webster dictionary describes a paradox as follows:
1 a: a statement that is seemingly contradictory or opposed to common sense and yet is perhaps true.
b : a self-contradictory statement that at first seems true.
c : an argument that apparently derives self-contradictory conclusions by valid deduction from acceptable premises.
2 : one that possesses seemingly contradictory qualities or phases.

When I was younger, my family elders would say it differently. They said, "Oh Joni, she marches to a different drummer." I believe it was the sound of that different drum that I heard so loudly when I was young that determined the direction for the rest of my life.
Sight vs. Perception
It wasn't long after I was thrown into the fray of our beloved institution called elementary school that it became evident that I was... so... uh, err...
unstructured. In the second grade, my Art teacher gave me a "C" for not following directions, and while a "C" in Art would not be so out-of-the ordinary to give an undisciplined child, it was outlandish to give to the vision-impaired child who was responsible for painting the aesthetically pleasing murals that draped the hallways of the school. The incident became a news article in the small town paper, and the next thing I knew I was being tested for something (new at the time that I didn't learn about until much later) called a "perceptual IQ." My scores landed me in an experimental school that consisted of only eleven children where I was the youngest. In this open style school I was encouraged to respond to that different drum beat that I heard, so I got to study subjects that arose from my curiosity. In retrospect, I see that this school served to enhance my unstructured ways and to re-enforce the paradoxical choices I made. The choices that became the sign posts of change throughout my life.
Stuck Changing the World
|
There's no use trying to change the core of who I am but there's always a good reason to grow in maturity. As a naive young girl, when asked "what I wanted to do when I grew up," my answer was always the same: "I wanted to change the world." God only knows why I cared so much about changing the world. I was totally oblivious to the fact that other 12 year olds didn't do what they wanted and read about medicine in China and Carl Jung's psychology. I would have been shocked at the time then, to discover that my older siblings thought that I was a weirdo freak-child. My family elders responded to my sibling's allegations by sending me to Europe to learn independence. There, I received a different kind of education. I learned that the European version of America's history was quite different than the American history taught in the U.S. of A. Seven years abroad didn't steer me off course though, it only fed my motivation to want to 'change the world' all the more. On my return, I discovered that my academic subjects of choice, political science and psychology, would not prove to be effective careers for my (now secret) mission. It would be another two decades until I would find the key to open the doorway for my undying quest.
A Magic Formula
Discovering the Remote Viewing protocols was more profound than I could have imagined. It was that magic formula of science and humanity that could offer every individual the means to find truth. A skill that people could learn by simply following directions. It was as easy as learning a new language and once learned, they would be empowered to find new and more effective solutions for problems and conflicts. It was a repeatable set of structured protocols that rendered consistent reliable results. In addition, the remote viewing skill evolved as the person grew so it would never be boring — it only seemed to get better and better. All this could be gained from following a simple set of rules - I couldn't wait to spread the news!
Benefits vs. Fears
|
In the early days when I spoke about Remote Viewing, I would enthusiastically say, "Imagine a world without secrets - It would be a safer and better world," but I wasn't expecting the backlash of people's interpretations. Many thought that this meant the end of their personal privacy and exclaimed that they didn't want Remote Viewers peeping into their bathrooms. So, the next question hurled my way was expected: "What if this skill gets into the wrong hands?" Okay, granted it's a fair question, but answering it presents a paradox not easily understood by the non-remote viewer. So, I answered the question with a side-step, saying that, "When a person learns to remote view they have all of the information in the universe to look at, so learning this skill expands horizons and avails a person the ability to peek up over the clouds and look into the future. Also, I had not seen a trained remote viewer be interested in peering into people lives like a peeping Tom." However, I could see that certain folks weren't buying my explanation and they didn't want anybody else buying it either. Alas, I was stunned by the possibility that the release of Remote Viewing protocols into the public domain would be bound by a paradox of paradigms. This was too much for me to fathom. I proceeded forward by ignoring the question and I concentrated instead on the experienced benefits of learning Remote Viewing, which in my opinion, far out weighed the unsubstantiated fears.
Peddling Consciousness
So, it seems that after a decade of peddling this consciousness-expanding skill, a percentage of people lie in unsure wait, while another percentage choose to forge ahead, like me. To date, I still haven't seen or heard of a peeping-tom remote viewer — perhaps expanding people's horizons really does cure them of short-sighted neurosis.
The awakening of the Archie Bunker mentality may not occur until Archie's very subsistence is shaken to its core. It seems that the fear of survival could wake up the paradox that invites the expansion of consciousness into Archie's life. Fear is the oldest known motivator to stimulate change in human behavior; however change does not always translate into instantaneous progress. After all, Adolph Hitler initiated change. It was at the cost of too many lives when conscience and awareness finally come to the rescue.
As a race, we humans need to learn from our culture's history, but if the historical facts are lost and future generations are not aware of their lesson... will the human race be trapped in a cycle of historical repetition? Now that I am more mature, I qualify my statement of a young naive girl and instead I say: "I want to change the world to be a more evolved and kinder world."
The Waiting Game
Perhaps that is the point. Maybe certain things in life are withheld until destiny or fate determines the most opportune time for release. Perhaps there is a perfect system of oversight and structure that we can choose to follow...
or not. Like learning Technical Remote Viewing, without adhering to structure, a remote viewer cannot achieve the consistent psychic accuracy that the Remote Viewing skill offers. Perhaps the forerunners of this dawning age of information and technology will need to grow to embody the necessary ingredients that are derived from adhering to Remote Viewing protocols.
So, would a world filled with compassion and consciousnesses need to keep secrets? Technical Remote Viewing certainly has become the vehicle that transports my agenda, but paradoxically the fuel that motivates me is still that same unknown drum beat that inspired a little blind girl to paint visually pleasing murals in the hallways of her short-sighted school.
Yes, my life has been a paradox of free-will and structured-destiny, sight and perception and somehow, somewhere, sometime, it all fits together perfectly.
