Soul Searching

Well, we're now into the second month of the New Year, and all across America people are desperately trying to cling to their New Year's Resolutions. But despite their original enthusiasm, their efforts have waned. Exercise equipment now gathers dust. Diets have given way to gluttony. Consumerism has dug its hooks into the purse strings once again. And that resolution to get a better job in the New Year? Well, it'll have to wait. Rent's due and there are mouths to feed.
I'm no different. Each year I've struggled with my own resolutions. I've done them all. I've resolved to get more exercise, save money, find a better job, consume less of what I know is bad for me. And every year I've joined the ranks of disappointed people who have failed to stick to those resolutions.
But this year was different. This year I would have none it. My resolutions had nothing to do with getting healthy, or eating wisely. They had nothing to do with getting my finances in order or making a commitment to become more prosperous. My resolutions weren't made for the betterment of my physical body, or my ego. This year they were made based on what I've learned through TRV®, about where I came from, and more importantly, where I'm going.
My New Year's Resolutions were made for my soul. Not long ago, I tasked a TRV peer with a blind target. The cue was simple: Kimberly Snow's soul. I wasn't sure what kind of data the session would produce. There was always the possibility that I had no soul, and that the data would show that the cue was utter nonsense. But something told me this was unlikely. So what does a soul look like? Is it a brighter form of the mind? Or is it a whole different creature unlike what we think of as the 'self'? Is it an angelic light, a little piece of God trapped in a vessel of flesh and bone? And if so, would a student even be allowed to peek at its glory? I anxiously awaited the results.
The answers to my questions were both startling, and humbling.
Some of the data was esoterical in nature, but the session produced unquestionably clear data as well. Without knowing the target, the student got such stage four data as, "studious", "motivated", "caring", "someone who was asking some profound questions", and "serendipitous". I immediately looked up this word. It means "the faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident." Perhaps the soul, being subject to the experiences of the physical body, has no choice but to learn its lessons by the accidental events that occur as a person stumbles his way through life. And if so, if this accidental stumbling is indeed serendipitous, then perhaps all experiences, good or bad, are fortunate.
As I continued to comb through the pages of the session data, there was no doubt that the student was on target. Some of the data he got was "a substance that cannot be contained", "a mental landscape", "an important item", "like a work of art", "like a person who must have solitude", "like two", and "looks like it came through". And then he got what I call the "wow" data, the one that practically calls the target. In the session he wrote: like battling a soul-full force. But what did the Matrix mean by battle? Was I battling with my soul? Or was this a reference to the struggle between good and evil, and the temptations that lead us down the wrong path? It was ominous data, and something for me to explore in further sessions.
Naturally with a target such as the soul, the student struggled with our limited thesaurus to describe what he was viewing. This was evident in such questions he asked in the session as, "Who are you here with?", "What is the context for this?", and a fascinating sentence that gave me a chuckle, "Where a certain kind of not knowing is normal." Considering that humans seem unable to remember where they came from, or why they are here, what their purpose is for existing, this data was apropos.
But it was the last data that stood out from the rest, and seemed to be the most significant of all. It was this data that led me to my New Year's Resolutions. The student described my soul as a young baby, not properly formed yet, and noted that I needed to expand my self. (And just when we think we know it all!) In the face of the all-mighty ego, this was surprising data, and turned me instantly into a humble Kimberly, a gentler, kinder Kimberly (okay, snicker if you like), but also a more understanding Kimberly. More understanding of myself. The mother instinct in me has taken over, and the desire to nurture my baby soul and help it develop is now in full force.
And so what were my New Year's Resolutions? I resolve to rear my soul as I would my own child, with patience, understanding, and compassion--not only toward myself, but also toward others. For I now know that every one that shares this planet with me also has an infant soul of their own within. My resolution is to pay closer attention, to let the eyes of my soul, like the wide-eyed unblinking stare of wonder on a baby's face, see the world fresh and new, free of my ego's bonds. And if I stick to my resolutions, then maybe, just maybe, my soul will grow a little, given the proper light of compassion, the sprinkling of awareness, and the warm nest of love that all human vessels are capable of supplying.
